Do Work III

1) (n) The 36 chambers a warrior has to go through to become a Shaolin. Every chambers has a special task the warrior has to complete in order to be able to continue to the next chamber.

How does all this relate to Do Work?

Mastering a skill in business must take practice and laser focus.
  1. You must learn from mentors
  2. You must read books
  3. You must listen to Audio CDs
  4. You must attend training seminars
  5. YOU MUST DO WORK
Like martial arts business has many details that must be mastered to have success. The fastest way to success in mastery is to find a mentor and model their actions and what they study.

Kinetic linking teaches us fulcrums and leavers create power and leverage. How does this translate to business? Post your thoughts and I will post my next blog on the topic.

STAND

Living on the outer limits of what is possible will freak out 98% of the population, including me.  I am good at doing the dance, looking like I am putting it all out there but ONLY when I know it will work. What if you and I were willing to live on the edge but not only on the edge, truly willing to take the leap to the unknown.

Fear is the reason the mass majority are not willing to make the plunge.

I own one of the largest Crossfit Affiliates in the world, if not the largest? I have more than 700 clients, led by over 20 full time trainers. I am ready to make a quantum leap, but if I do this, I will be taking the group with me.

Five years ago, when I took my first leap to start this thing called Crossfit Central, it was me and a hand full of people. The risk was much smaller and the landing if I failed would be much softer.

Today the game is bigger, threatening a much more painful landing.  I do not make decisions without a lot of consideration these days.  It is time to make a move!

You might not see the effects today or tomorrow.  However, in one or two years when you do see the effects, recall this blog post and know a decision was made in the face of FEAR.

Adapt or Die

Opening a Crossfit affiliate can be the scariest and most exciting journey any crossfithead could ever do! Crosssfit recently hit 2000 affiliates world wide. Two thousand is a pretty large number of people.   If you just do simple math, 2000 affiliates times an average of 50 clients at each box is 100,000  organized crossfitters. This is not even counting all the military and home garage gyms, boot camps etc.

As Crossfit reaches mass consumption across the country, new ways of approaching the business must occur.  Going about things as-is, will not meet the demands and the desires of the people.

I personally have had to stretch my view of what is possible at Crossfit Central and how we will touch more people and change the world. Our staff is constantly upping their game and looking at our affiliate with fresh eyes to develop the program and to bring the best product to market.

As the leader of Crossfit Central I must adapt just as fast as the market demands. Sometimes this can be challenging when you are familiar with the old ways of doing things. I am committed to having an open mind to to get our game to the next level!

Discomfort

Posted by Picasa
Here today gone tomorrow. When we think about musicians, actors, athletes they come and they go but some rise up to the top and stay there for many years. How is that so? Musicians that come to mind, Johnny Cash, Michael Jackson, Jay Z, and Madonna have been around for years or made come backs in their career keeping them at number one.

Talent is? The ability to continue to produce quality content? Discomfort

Greatness is not a function of circumstances. Greatness is Largely a matter of Conscious Choice and Discipline. GOOD TO GREAT

Courage

Posted by Picasa
"Here I stand, the future ahead of me the past behind me and only the present to engage. Desire, passion, hunger to be the best nothing more nothing less this is my test."
Last night I was able to relax and watch a movie Coco before Chanel (Trailer). During the part of the movie I mentioned how brave she was and Lisa T. said "she has nothing to lose". It took me back to a time when I lived that way. Oh how good it feels to be ALL IN. The movie was great and very inspiring!

What events in my life caused me to draw in and not live on the edge. Have you seen Rocky 3 Eye of the Tiger. To relate my life to movies I feel like I lost my eye of the tiger and I am going back to the old school to claim it.
I feel a hunger inside of me rising up bigger badder then before a ferocious lion that will not surrender. When I first started out on my life mission I was out to prove my self. This weak place of desperation is dead and gone.

I am on a Ruthless and Relentless mission to take a stand for all people!

ShowOut your Life!

Ok so it has been pointed out to me many times by my lovely wife and many others that my black and white non-color attire is lame. So in many attempts to broaden my horizons and not be so boring I need to get with some color. The title is inspired by my lovely associate Megan Parsons! She is always dresses "ShowOut" and her blog says it quietly!

So here is the deal I will commit to adding one color to my attire daily to liven up my boring and overly serious demeanor. Hey maybe people will like me?! LULULEMON Austin Texas Store front.

The Foundation—Humility and Service

The foundation of this business is humility and service. It
is the vision of the community. When Carey Kepler and I
went to our Level 1 Cert in 2004, I saw the most amazing
group of individuals. I looked at my sister and said, “These
are my people!” They were the most humble people I’d
ever met. Greg and Lauren Glassman didn’t know who
we were, yet they welcomed us and truly cared about me
as an individual and my success.
As an affiliate owner, it is your responsibility to truly care
about your clients and their success. No one can teach
you how to care, but if you do, your clients will know and
they will be loyal. But you must be there for them and for
their success.

Next?

Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed on an equal or greater benefit. -Napoleon Hill

As I take time to recover from the Crossfit Games I am plowing the field of my mind of old ways, old habits, old beliefs that will consistently bring about similar out comes.

I will be ready a couple more days of rest though ; )
